What are the Datenspuren?

The Datenspuren (or DS for short) are a yearly meetup for techies and anyone interested. There are usually talks and workshops about technical, social and political topics usually with a focus on how society and technology can, should or do interact.

There is no entry fee and no registration which makes it a great event for anyone!

DS 2025

This year the motto is Building Bridges.

This is of course a reference to the Carolabrücke that collapsed in Dresden earlier this year but also highlights the value of interpersonal networking. This goes very well with a common motto Bildet Banden which translates to form gangs. While gang as a word sounds very negative and dangerous the essence is that people in (small) groups are less vulnerable to oppression or other dangers. And in a country where the far right is gaining power quickly this is more important than ever!

As always there will be many interesting talks, workshops and other acts and like to highlight a few here. But there are many more and they are all well worth your time.

I myself will be visiting talks and supervising the Youth Hacking Space when I'm not running around talking to people. If you go, have fun and if you don't you can watch some of the talks on media.ccc.de.

Youth Hacking Space

The Solarpunk-Kollektiv-Dresden will be providing the event with a place for young people to talk to other techies. We will be showcasing multiple projects including embedded rust, Linux install and our Matrix server.
